A romantic musical brought to you by Blackpool Operatic Players

Crazy For You

Wednesday 23 April 2014 - 7.30pm
Thursday 24th April - 2pm and 7.30pm
Friday 25th April - 7.30pm
Saturday 26th April - 2pm and 7.30pm

Blackpool Operatic Players are proud to present Crazy For You.

Crazy for You is a romantic love musical set in 1930s New York and Deadrock, Nevada. It tells the story of Bobby Child, the rich son of a banking family. His mother gives him the task of going to Nevada to foreclose on a rundown theatre. When he arrives there, it is clear that the gold-mining town has seen better days. Almost dying of thirst, he enters the town and falls in love with Polly, the daughter of the owner of the Gaiety Theatre.

Bobby soon realises he has a big problem - if he forecloses on the theatre he will lose the girl of his dreams. Instead, he comes up with the idea of putting on a show to pay off the mortgage. He calls in The Zangler Follies Girls from New York to help stage this spectacle.

When the men of Deadrock see the girls, the sleepy town becomes very lively. What follows is a rocky road of ups and downs and some mistaken identities but, in the end, the boy gets his girl.

Music and lyrics are by George and Ira Gershwin and the show features the musical numbers Someone to Watch Over Me, Slap That Bass, I Got Rhythm and They Can’t Take That Away from Me. With a comical storyline, great music and some serious tap dancing, this show is a must see.

The worldwide copyrights in the music of George and Ira Gershwin for this presentation are licensed by the Gershwin Family. GERSHWIN is a registered trademark and service mark of Gershwin Enterprises. CRAZY FOR YOU is a registered trademark and service mark of CRAZY FOR YOU Enterprises.
