Highlights - Tram Sunday 2017

Highlights of this years event - and what to find where

Tram Sunday - Sunday 16 July 2017

Watch this space to find out more about exactly what you'll find at this years Fleetwood Tram Sunday.

On Your Bike!

A morning of bike related fun is being organised on Saturday 15th July, the day before Tram Sunday, on Adelaide St, Fleetwood between 10 and 1 pm.

Decorated bicycle

Cyclists are invited to come along to decorate their bike in preparation for the SpareParts Carnival on the Sunday.

You can also take part in the Bicycle Ballet 'flash mob' workshop between 11am and 1pm and help to perform a flash mob cycling ballet on the Sunday.

Several other cycling activities will be taking place so we would like the cyclists of Fleetwood to come along Saturday morning.

Steam Water Pump

One of the vehicles we’ll be seeing on the street at this year’s Tram Sunday is a horse-drawn steam water pump.

Staem Water Pump, fire engine

We’re more likely to call it a fire engine these days but this one is rather special as it dates from 1876 and was built by Shand Mason of London and was used by the City of Chester.

For those who like to know, its model number is P280.

Craft Village

The Craft Village will be back again at Tram Sunday on 16 July 2017.

Stalls at Tram Sunday

There will be a number of gazebos each housing crafts such as sewing, knitting, jewellery and glassware.

Many crafters will be there, including Buttons Inc, Sew Classy, Elaines Tiny Knits and many more. There will be Sand Art workshops for the kids and knitting looms for the grown ups, so there's plenty to see and do for all ages and abilities.

Craft stalls at Tram Sunday

If you want to know more about booking a stall, contact Jacqui at Topstitch. Email topstitchfleetwood@gmail.com

Send details by email to Jacqui of what you wish to sell.
To maintain variety the numbers of people selling the same thing are limited so its vital that you send images and/or links to items.

No trading license is needed but insurance is a must for Tram Sunday for all stallholders.

Skyfall

No, not the famous Bond movie!

But an amazing mobile zip wire which is coming to Tram Sunday for the first time in 2017.

It’s the only one of its type in the UK and we are sure that it’s something that many will enjoy.

So, get ready to challenge yourself, conquer your fears and enjoy all the thrill of travelling by wire

Happy and Healthy HeARTS at Fleetwood Market

Leading up to this year’s Tram Sunday and Spare Parts festival on Sunday 16 July, Fleetwood Market is hosting a number of exciting arts performances and activities.

The idea is to make the venue a fun, happy and healthy market for traders and shoppers alike. Linking into the Healthier Fleetwood initiative and also being an important strand of the festivals’ access and inclusion programme, arts and creativity is good for the soul and we’d like you to take part.

Linda Copeland will be the artist in residence joining us every Saturday from 17 June encouraging participants to be creative at all ages. Linda is developing an arts installation which involves decorating a crowd of life sized standing statues.

Market crowd statues which will be decorated for Tram Sunday

Almost twenty local groups and schools have received their figure (above) and once complete the ‘market crowd’ will be shown at the venue and weather permitting, around the town.

Every Thursday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm starting from 15 June (excluding 6 July), come and sing along with the Fylde Ukulele Network. A great way to bop whilst you shop! Mouth-watering afternoon teas will also be available at the market café so you can take full advantage of the entertainment at your leisure.

Local musician Mike Fairclough will be bringing his own brand of folk on Saturday 17 June between 10am and 12pm, and on other days – keep an eye out for the notices at the market.

There is an ongoing “Arts Area” available to have a go at art. We’ll provide lots of paper, templates, crayons and pencils for all the family to use. Especially good for those rainy days in town.

We are also hoping to have creative writing classes, and salsa demonstrations.

On Tram Sunday the market will be buzzing with activity. Internationally acclaimed BMX stunt rider Matti Hemmings will be performing on the outdoor performance area at the market, the fantastically funny Bicycle Ballet and the daring and skilful dance group Etta Ermini are in attendance; plus lots of walkabout street theatre acts and musicians.

There is still time, if you want to get involved in providing creative activities, please contact Chris Wyatt, at chris.wyatt@wyre.gov.uk.
