Tram Sunday is on Sunday 21 July 2019

Once again, Tram Sunday incorporates the SpareParts Festival.

It’s a community event, run by a team of volunteers. Tram Sunday has grown from strength to strength and the quality improves year on year. It’s now a market leader and is taken to other towns throughout the UK. Volunteers are crucial to it – just as they have been for the last 30 years!

Preparations are well underway for fun-packed day out for all the family… the largest FREE event of its kind!

TRAM SUNDAY NEEDS YOU!!

The organisers are particularly on the look-out for Stewards and Marshalls to help make the big day a success. A variety of roles are available, with something to suit everyone.

All volunteers (aged 18+) are welcome, no experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a few hours to spare.

Full training will be provided in advance, on Thursday 11 July or Wednesday 17 July. Both sessions begin at 7.30 pm at the North Euston Hotel, Fleetwood.

  • Marshalls help to park the exhibits on the street following a plan and then help to marshal the two parades.
  • Stewards interact with the visitors and keep them clear of the parade route as needed.

Volunteers are needed at all times of the day, between 7.30am and 6pm for as much time as you can offer.

Refreshments are provided on the day and there’s a thank you following the event.

Anyone interested should email tramsundayhelp@gmail.com and the organisers will get straight back to you (and please mention you saw it on Visit Fylde Coast!)

Could you be part of Tram Sunday?

‘On the Day’ Volunteers

The day itself is both busy with plenty of hustle and bustle AND it’s enjoyable with so many people in the town. Volunteers undertake many different tasks, while enjoying the carnival atmosphere, of course!

Volunteers work to zone managers who allocate tasks and support the volunteers. Most ‘on the day’ volunteers help with the parades. That might be helping to escort the parades through the town, or helping to ensure the safety of the public whilst the parades pass through their zone.

Specific roles include Marshals. They are needed in the morning to help park the exhibitor’s vehicles (based on the event plans) and help with set up before the event opens.

Then there are the Stewards who are the ‘face’ of Tram Sunday. They’re there to interact with the public, whether that’s providing help, like directions, or just letting them know what’s coming up next from the event programme.

Whether you’ve volunteered before or this is your first time, you’ll be welcomed to the team. Experience isn’t necessary as training is available. Enthusiasm and a few hours to spare on the day is all that’s needed. Lunch and drinks are provided for volunteers on the day

Planning Team Volunteers

Unless you’ve been involved in the organisation of an event like this you can’t begin to imagine how much hard work, time and effort goes into it. It takes a full twelve months to plan and execute this big festival.

The Planning Team is made up of volunteers who work throughout the year to coordinate this huge event, not just in Fleetwood but in other towns too. Would you like to be involved?

Some skills and a professional attitude would be useful for various roles. You might be able to carry out a project management role, a community liaison role to talk to the many existing groups and schools here on the Fylde Coast. Could you be an arts coordinator to develop and grow SpareParts. Or would you like to help with general administration?

  • Are you able to work under your own steam (pardon the pun!)?
  • Can you commit some time to the tasks?
  • Have you got a modicum of common sense?
  • Then you are the volunteer they need – SIGN UP NOW!

You’re very welcome to come along to a meeting to see what you think, with no obligation to continue helping out if you think it’s not for you. Just give it a go!
