Beach Care

In places like this which live hand-in-hand with the sea, Beach Care is important. Find out how you can do your bit to help.

Fleetwood has miles of beautiful coastline. Right around the peninsula, past the docks and into the mouth of the River Wyre.

A lot of work goes into keeping it clean and tidy. Much of which is unseen – done by utility companies and public bodies. The aim is to look after the sea and the beach and keep it a clean environment for wildlife and people to enjoy.

Strong winds here mean that litter that gets blown into the water and onto the beaches. It’s dropped by the public, and a lot of it is washed up from the sea.

Beach care and conservation doesn’t start and stop at litter and what the beach looks like. There are practical reasons for removing it too because it’s hazardous to all kinds of marine life.

Our shoreline and beach is a wonderful and precious resource that we should all look after and then enjoy. Take a look around this section and join in when you can!
