Fleetwood Model Aircraft Club, or Fylde Coast Model Flying Association (FCMFA) in full, has been flying for 40 years. They’re looking for new members to join in with this popular hobby. Everyone is welcome – young and old, experienced or novice flyers.
All types of radio controlled models are flown at the club. Fixed wing, helicopter and control line, and of course electric models too.
Where the Club Flies
Fleetwood Model Aircraft Club flies from a site near the banks of the River Wyre. It’s accessed through Fleetwood Marsh Nature Park, off Jameson Road (at the end of the access road for Fleetwood tip). The gate to the flying site is clearly signposted from the large, free car park.
Flying times are unrestricted at the site, so members can fly seven days a week. Weather permitting!
The club originally used a plot next to the cooling towers at the former Fleetwood power station. They were demolished in the early 1980s when the power station closed. Development of Fleetwood Marsh Nature Park began much later in 2003. It was the summer of 2005 when the Park was completed and the club was back up and flying again.
How to get involved with Fleetwood Model Aircraft Club
You are very welcome to pop down to the site for a chat and to see flying in action. Weather permitting, on suitable flying days there are usually members there most afternoons and weekends. Plus evenings in the lighter months.
