It’s the biggest transport themed event in the UK and it’s a FREE, fun, family event. It’s Fleetwood Festival of Transport – or Tram Sunday as it’s known – and it’s back on 19 July 2026!

Save the date for this popular free day out! It’s a spectacle in its own right, where the entire town centre is closed to traffic and transformed into an outdoor playground! First, the day begins with a parade of vehicles. Then classic cars, vehicles of all kinds, buses, vans and bikes form static displays along the town centre high street. Side streets off it are also closed and become home to all manner of attractions. From funfair rides to rock bands, troupes of dances to craft stalls. There’s really something for everyone!

• Watch the community parade at 11am with the maiden voyage of new giant puppet, Harriet Spirit of Fleetwood.
• See makes and models of vehicles from all eras and our film and TV cars.
• Enjoy free family entertainment and live music, plus rides and stalls.
• Explore festivals within the festival! See what’s going on at St. Peter’s Church. Pride in Fleetwood have lots lined up too, including a silent disco and caricaturist!

The fun starts at 10am on Lord Street and North Albert Street, Fleetwood and it’s completely free to enter.

History of Fleetwood Festival of Transport – Tram Sunday

Fleetwood Festival of Transport – Tram Sunday – first took place in 1985 as a part of the celebrations for the anniversary of Blackpool trams. It continued to develop over the years to include any form of transport: classic cars, motorbikes, buses and of course, not forgetting the trams.

Its popularity increased through the years with both transport enthusiasts and the local community in Fleetwood. The leadership team has changed several times over the years, and the festival has grown with the inclusion of further attractions.

Introducing SpareParts

With the help of arts organisation LeftCoast, the “SpareParts” festival began in 2014.

It brought exciting, transport themed professional arts performances, entertainment and displays to the event including professional street artists. Incredibly popular with everyone it only made the event bigger and better!
