Lancashire Landings

Have you spotted lots of light aircraft on the beach, just over the water at Knott End? It’s most likely to be The Bay Flying Club at Cockerham and their Lancashire Landings event. Each year the club supports Fallen Fusiliers with this interesting event!

Lancashire Landings

If you’re lucky, you might be at Fleetwood Esplanade, beach or seafront on the same summer’s day that this event takes place. As you look over the River Wyre and Irish Sea, you might get to see lots of small light planes, all gathered together on the beach opposite.

You’ll often see tiny little planes and microlights flying about in the skies over Fleetwood. The view from up there is amazing – we know because we’ve seen the photos – you can see them too! They’re all privately owned and fly from the airfield at Cockerham. The Bay Flying Club has pilot members who fly fixed and flex wing microlights from the airfield.

In summer each year they hold a fly-in, gathering on the beach at Knott End, to raise money for Fallen Fusiliers. Remember your binoculars and enjoy the view from Fleetwood seafront! Weather permitting, the event is scheduled for Saturday 25 June 2022.
